Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the war is not over and warned that Israel must remain vigilant despite recent military and diplomatic developments in the region.
Speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said that although Israel has avoided what he described as a serious existential threat, the country must continue to maintain a high level of readiness.
“We must remain vigilant and defend ourselves for as long as necessary,” Netanyahu stated.
The Israeli leader emphasized that Israeli forces will continue operating in designated security zones for as long as required to guarantee the safety of the country’s citizens.
Netanyahu also argued that Israel is currently in a stronger strategic position, while what he called the Iranian-led axis has been significantly weakened by recent events.
Addressing relations with the United States, Netanyahu acknowledged that he does not always agree with U.S. President Donald Trump on every issue. However, he stressed that his primary responsibility remains protecting Israel’s national interests.
The prime minister further reiterated his commitment to ensuring long-term security for residents in northern Israel along the border with Lebanon, an area that has faced repeated security challenges in recent years.
The remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions and uncertainty over the durability of recent diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing conflict in the Middle East.
