Four individuals were taken to a police station in northern Mitrovica after allegedly attempting to create graffiti on a mural in the city’s central square.

After being interviewed by the police, all four were released under regular legal procedures.

The information was confirmed by Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region.

According to Elshani, the individuals were stopped after writing several inscriptions on a mural located near the statue of Tsar Lazar. The writings reportedly included “Kosovska Mitrovica,” “Millan,” “Luka,” “Petar Pavle,” and other inscriptions.

Elshani stated that one of the individuals was issued a vandalism citation for writing “Kosovska Mitrovica.”

“They were preparing to create a mural. We brought them to the police station. One of them was issued a ticket for vandalism because of the inscription ‘Kosovska Mitrovica,’” Elshani told local media.

He further explained that any initiative involving murals must receive approval from the Ministry of Local Government Administration, particularly in cases where such activities could affect public order and safety.

According to Elshani, no such project can be carried out without authorization from the relevant institutions.
