Ukraine and Russia announced this Friday their first exchange of prisoners of war in almost 4 months. 150 people were released after negotiations brokered by the United Arab Emirates.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said 75 Ukrainian prisoners had returned from Russia. They included four civilians, while the rest were members of the army forces.
On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine handed over 75 people in an agreement brokered by the United Arab Emirates, the RIA news agency reported.
“After a long pause, another exchange of prisoners took place: 75 defenders and civilians were released from enemy captivity,” said the Ukrainian Coordinating Committee for Prisoners of War.
