Torrential rainfall has triggered flash flooding across several villages in eastern Kosovo, resulting in a complete traffic shutdown on the Ferizaj–Gjilan regional highway.
According to an emergency advisory issued by the Ferizaj Regional Police on Wednesday evening, the highway is entirely impassable near the village of Dardani due to heavy runoff affecting the local road infrastructure, alongside severe flooding reported in the neighboring villages of Ramjan and Zllatar.
Official Police Detours and Alternative Routes
Regional traffic police units are on the scene directing stranded motorists and managing traffic gridlock. Drivers are urgently requested to bypass the flooded highway sector using the following alternative routes:
- Traveling from Ferizaj toward Gjilan: Motorists must divert and utilize the local roads running through the village of Zllatar.
- Traveling from Gjilan toward Ferizaj: Motorists are instructed to take the Dardani–Zllatar detour road, specifically using the route adjacent to the Metali i Ri company facilities.
Safety Warning: Law enforcement officials advise all commuters traveling between the Ferizaj and Gjilan municipalities to expect significant delays, exercise extreme caution due to reduced visibility and standing water, and strictly obey the directions of traffic officers deployed along the detour networks.
