Rama Travels to Turkey for NATO Summit as Trump and Alliance Leaders Gather in Ankara

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is traveling to Ankara today to attend the NATO Summit, which will take place on July 7–8. According to Turkish media, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to hold bilateral meetings with 32 heads of state and government, including Prime Minister Edi Rama.

As part of the summit, Erdoğan is also scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, outgoing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, President of the European Council Antonio Costa, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, and Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, according to RTSH.

One of the summit’s most anticipated meetings will be the one-on-one talks between Erdoğan and Trump, which will be followed by a joint press conference.

On the evening of July 7, President Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan will host an official dinner for the participating heads of state and government. On July 8, leaders will gather for the summit’s plenary session following the traditional family photo.

The NATO Summit will focus on strengthening the Alliance’s defense capabilities, increasing defense investment, addressing the war in Ukraine, and discussing the security challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic region. Leaders of all 32 NATO member states, along with senior ministers, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations, are expected to attend.
