Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met today with Mexico’s Ambassador to Serbia, Carlos Felix Corona, during which he said they also discussed the issue of Kosovo’s independence. Vučić thanked Mexico for maintaining its position of not recognizing Kosovo’s independence.
“I thanked Mexico for its principled position and continued support for respect for international law, as well as for not recognizing Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence. We highly value such a relationship and believe we will continue to develop political, economic, cultural, and other forms of cooperation that are in our mutual interest. I hope we will soon have the opportunity to exchange high-level visits, which will further strengthen relations between our two countries,” Vučić said.
The meeting with the ambassador of a non-recognizing country comes just two days after Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut hosted a luncheon for diplomatic representatives of countries that do not recognize Kosovo.
Representatives from Morocco, Brazil, Algeria, Cambodia, Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Argentina, Myanmar, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Tunisia, Palestine, Cuba, Russia, Iraq, China, Kazakhstan, Ghana, Belarus, and the Vatican attended the gathering.
