Andy Burnham has declared that he is “ready” to lead the Labour Party and continue building on the foundations laid by Keir Starmer.
Addressing supporters, Burnham said that under Starmer’s leadership, the Labour Party had gone from its worst electoral defeat to its biggest victory, putting it in a position to improve the lives of people across the United Kingdom.
He highlighted several of Starmer’s key achievements, including reducing waiting times in the National Health Service (NHS) and restoring Britain’s reputation on the international stage.
Burnham also thanked Starmer for his service to both the country and the Labour Party, a tribute that was met with warm applause from the audience, according to the BBC.
