The Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS) has expressed concern over the decision of Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama to terminate the agreement allowing the use of public space where the Reporting House museum operates.
YIHR KS has called on Mayor Rama and relevant institutions to reconsider the decision and ensure the continuation of what it described as a space of exceptional importance for the citizens of Kosovo.
“Reporting House is a museum and documentation space of special public importance, contributing to the preservation of collective memory and the documentation of Kosovo’s history through testimonies, archival materials, photographs, and personal accounts,” YIHR said in its reaction.
The organization stressed that public institutions should support and protect spaces that serve the public interest, particularly those that contribute to documenting the past and promoting education on human rights and peace.
The Reporting House museum, also known as the House of Journalists, presents a detailed account of the Kosovo war in the late 1990s through artifacts, video recordings from the period, and various interviews.
Since its opening, the museum has welcomed thousands of visitors seeking to learn more about the experiences of journalists and civilians during the war.
Mayor Përparim Rama announced on July 27, 2026, that he had decided to terminate the agreement with Reporting House, a move that has sparked reactions from human rights organizations and supporters of preserving historical memory in Kosovo.
