Lumir Abdixhiku has retained his position as leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) after party delegates voted against a motion seeking his dismissal during an extraordinary party congress.
According to reports presented by journalist Leonard Kerquki during the television program Pressing, 169 delegates voted against Abdixhiku’s removal, while 152 supported the motion, giving the LDK leader a narrow but decisive victory.
The vote took place during an extraordinary session of the party’s General Assembly, which was convened specifically to consider the initiative to dismiss Abdixhiku from the party leadership.
Around 330 delegates participated in the congress, where the leadership vote was the sole item on the agenda.
The outcome strengthens Abdixhiku’s position after weeks of internal divisions within Kosovo’s oldest political party, with a majority of delegates ultimately backing him to remain at the helm of the LDK.
