Chelsea have been fined £10 million (approximately €11.6 million) by the English Football Association (FA) for breaches of regulations relating to football agents during the period between 2009 and 2022.
The FA had brought forward 74 charges against the London club following a self-reporting process by Chelsea’s current owners, BlueCo, which took control of the club after Roman Abramovich’s departure.
In addition to the financial penalty, Chelsea were also handed a ban on registering new players for two transfer windows. However, the sanction has been suspended until June 2027 and will only be enforced if the club commits further breaches during this period.
Initially, the FA had also imposed a six-point deduction, but that decision was overturned following an appeal by the club.
The English Football Association confirmed that the £10 million fine remains in place, with the funds set to be used for the development of grassroots football.
This is not the first time Chelsea have faced disciplinary action. In 2023, the club was fined by UEFA for breaches of financial regulations, while in 2019 they were banned from registering players for two transfer windows over violations related to the recruitment of players under the age of 18.
