Israeli forces will fully withdraw beyond the “Yellow Line” in eastern Gaza once Hamas completes the process of disarming, the Board of Peace said following a meeting between its director-general, Nikolay Mladenov, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The announcement reiterated the board’s stated objective of securing the complete removal of weapons from the Gaza Strip and overseeing a transition from armed rule to civilian governance.
“The complete disarmament of weapons in the Strip and the transition from rule by arms to civilian governance” remain among the board’s central objectives, according to a statement published on social media.
Under the proposed framework, civilian governance in Gaza would be supervised by an International Stabilization Force and an Implementation Verification Commission, with both the United States and the Board of Peace participating in the verification mechanism.
The planned Israeli withdrawal is therefore tied directly to Hamas completing the disarmament process, making the implementation of the arrangement dependent on progress toward removing armed groups’ military capabilities from Gaza.
The announcement comes amid ongoing international efforts to establish a post-war governance and security framework for the Gaza Strip, with the proposed mechanisms intended to provide oversight during the transition to civilian administration.
