In an operation by the Kosovo Police this week in Ferizaj, two individuals suspected of espionage in cooperation with the Serbian Intelligence Agency (BIA) were arrested.

For one of the arrested individuals, Bedri Shabani, who is accused of sharing confidential information and his connections with the Serbian agency BIA, a part of a recorded conversation with BIA official Srdjan Rosic was released yesterday.

The name Srdjan Rosic also appears in the archives of the Hague Tribunal, specifically in the documentation of evidence during the trial of Slobodan Milošević.

During the testimony of Bogoljub Janicević in the trial of Slobodan Milošević, the latter asks Janicević who Srdjan Rosic is.

Janicević explains that Srdjan Rosic served as an operational security worker in Ferizaj before the war.

“And who is Srdjan Rosic?” Slobodan Milošević asks.

“Srdjan Rosic at that time was an operational security worker in the Ferizaj department,” Bogoljub Janicević replies.

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) has refused to comment on the suspect for espionage with the Serbian BIA, Bedri Shabani, whether he has been or was expected to be a witness at the Special Court in The Hague.

In an official response, the spokesperson for the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, Christopher Bennett, refused to give an answer regarding Bedri Shabani.

Bennett made it clear that the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office does not comment on its investigations.

“The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office does not comment on its investigations,” he said.

Bedri Shabani’s lawyer, Besnik Berisha, claimed that his client, one of the suspects for dubious espionage activities, is a witness at the Special Court in The Hague and there is no evidence of any illegal actions on his part.

Although the lawyer did not provide detailed information about the case in which Shabani has testified or was expected to testify against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
