A total of 727 operational personnel have been deployed across Albania over the past 24 hours to respond to and manage 20 active wildfire hotspots in different parts of the country.
The Albanian Armed Forces have deployed 128 personnel in support of local emergency structures, along with two firefighting vehicles, one medical ambulance and three Air Force helicopters to assist operations in areas affected by the fires.
Minister of Defence Ermal Nufi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all personnel involved in managing the wildfire situation since the beginning of the summer season.
“These are precisely the people of sacrifice, the people in uniform who choose to move toward danger in order to eliminate it, rather than stand away from it,” Nufi said, praising the professionalism, courage and dedication of the forces operating on the ground.
According to the minister, the work of emergency and military personnel to protect citizens’ lives, communities and natural assets represents a high example of duty and service to the Republic.
“Albania is proud of you. Your sacrifice, determination and service are the best example of duty to the Republic,” Nufi said.
Authorities continue to coordinate firefighting and emergency operations across the country as Albania faces heightened wildfire risks during the summer season.
