Two drones launched from Iran targeted the office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq, a U.S. ally in the region, according to the KRG’s counterterrorism agency, CNN reported.

The drones also targeted the residence of the head of the region’s security agency, according to the statement. No casualties were reported in the attack, the security agency said. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the strikes.

“My personal office and the home of the head of the Security and Intelligence Agency were targeted by Iranian drone attacks earlier today,” KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani wrote on X, describing the attack as “a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.”

The Kurdistan Regional Government hosts Kurdish parties that maintain cross-border ties with Iranian Kurds. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that his administration attempted to arm Kurds inside Iran during the war, but that instead of confronting the Iranian government, the Kurds “kept the weapons for themselves.”
