Mitrovica Mayor Faton Peci has reacted to the fulfillment of the criteria for opening the Iber Bridge, describing the development as a new chapter for Mitrovica and Kosovo.
“The opening of the Ibar Bridge is a chapter that writes history beyond Kosovo and finally buries the flawed idea of dividing the north,” he said.
In a Facebook post, Peci said the criteria for opening the bridge had been met through what he described as persistence in the face of obstacles and pressure.
“The criteria for opening the bridge were fulfilled through perseverance in the face of every obstacle and pressure,” Peci wrote.
He also recalled the commitment he made during the latest election campaign, together with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, to open a new chapter for Mitrovica.
According to Peci, the opening of the Iber Bridge represents a historic moment extending beyond Kosovo’s borders and marks the end of the idea of dividing the north.
The Mitrovica mayor concluded by congratulating the citizens and Kosovo on the development.
