A day earlier, at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, Jakup Krasniqi was sentenced to 25 years in prison for war crimes.
His wife, Sevdije Krasniqi, spoke exclusively about what the KLA leader told his family following the verdict.
“Jakup told me that he feels at peace because he did not commit any of the acts he was accused of. He said that he had not harmed anyone and did not want to harm himself either. The defendants’ lawyers have announced that they will appeal, although, based on the decision of the Trial Court, they do not have much confidence in the outcome. I call on all Albanians to unite and reject this court,” Krasniqi’s wife said.
Meanwhile, she also read the message Jakup Krasniqi sent to his family following the sentence handed down in The Hague.
“There is no one in the world I have ever harmed. I do not want to harm myself either. This is corrupt justice in favor of Serbia. I received this sentence because of Serbia’s lies,” Krasniqi wrote in his message.
