The Basic Court in Prishtina has scheduled September 28 for the initial hearing in absentia against 21 Serb defendants accused of war crimes against the civilian population. At the same time, the court has called on the accused to appear and surrender to the law enforcement authorities of the Republic of Kosovo, Sinjali reports.
According to the court’s announcement, the hearing will take place at the Special Department on September 28, 2026, starting at 9:30 a.m. The case will be presided over by Judge Medie Bytyqi in courtroom 16, at Building D of the Palace of Justice in Hajvali.
The indictment in this case was filed by the Special Prosecution Office on August 15, 2025. According to the court, the proposal to conduct the trial in absentia was made by the Special Prosecution Office because the defendants could not be located up to the time the indictment was filed.
The 21 defendants are Zlatomir Peshiq, Mlladen Cirkoviq, Radomir Markoviq, Dushko Adamoviq, Obrad Stevanoviq, Zhivko Trajkoviq, Goran Radosavleviq, Bogoljub Janiceviq, Slavisha Ivanoviq, Boshko Vukiqeviq, Sreten Popoviq, Nikola Petroviq, Kërshman Jeliq, Lubisha Stojimiroviq, Bozhidar Deliq, Radojko Stefanoviq, Dragan Zhivanoviq, Milos Gjoshan, Lubinko Cvetiq, Bozhidar Filiq, and Milovan Kovaceviq.
They are accused of the criminal offense of “War Crimes Against the Civilian Population,” under Article 142 in connection with Article 22 of the Criminal Code of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
In addition to calling on the defendants to surrender, the court has asked citizens to provide information that could help establish their whereabouts. Anyone with relevant information has been invited to report it to the Kosovo Police or other competent authorities.
The court also announced that the indictment and summonses for the hearing have been published on its official website and in the Official Gazette.
