The Albanian diaspora in Australia will join protests in support of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders who were sentenced by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague on September 16 to a combined 81 years in prison.
A protest under the slogan “Not in My Name” will be held in Melbourne on September 27, beginning at 12:00.
Organizers have called for participation in a peaceful demonstration, emphasizing messages of solidarity and justice.
The protest poster carries the message: “The fight for freedom is not a crime!” and highlights support for Kosovo and former members of the KLA.
The Melbourne protest is part of a series of gatherings organized by the Albanian diaspora in different countries following the Specialist Chambers’ verdicts against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.
The organizers’ message is summed up in the call: “Our voice matters – Kosovo forever.”
