Around 340 current and former employees of SRF, part of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG), have been affected by a cyberattack in which personal and professional data was stolen.
According to SRG, the compromised information primarily includes employees’ names, positions and professional contact details. In some cases, private contact information was also affected. The data dates back to 2020 and is mainly associated with the broadcaster’s “Information” unit.
SRG said there is currently no evidence that the stolen information has been published or misused.
The broadcaster also said there are no indications that passwords, banking or financial information, journalistic sources, research data or the content of communications were compromised.
Security measures taken
After discovering the attack, SRG deactivated the affected accounts and introduced additional security measures. Employees whose information was compromised have been informed directly.
The incident is being investigated by both internal and external cybersecurity experts. SRG has also notified the relevant authorities and filed a police report.
The investigation will focus on determining how the attack occurred and establishing the full extent of the data that was compromised.
