Glauk Konjufca has condemned recent statements by Serbian officials regarding Kosovo’s territorial integrity, warning that Belgrade’s rhetoric reflects continued ambitions against the Republic of Kosovo.

Konjufca pointed to remarks by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, who reportedly declared at an election rally that the Serbian flag would “sooner or later fly over Prizren,” a city in southern Kosovo.

He said the statement demonstrated that Serbia’s territorial ambitions had not become a thing of the past.

Two days later, Milan Radoičić, who is wanted by Interpol in connection with the Banjska attack, appeared alongside Danilo Vučić, the son of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, at a rally organised by the Serbian Progressive Party in Kragujevac.

Konjufca also accused the Serbian president of once again threatening Kosovo’s independence.

“These are not isolated provocations,” Konjufca stated, arguing that the incidents reflected a continuing political approach characterised by territorial expansionist rhetoric and a lack of accountability for armed aggression.

He said Serbia could not credibly claim to support peace and European integration while senior officials made statements challenging Kosovo’s sovereignty and Radoičić remained at liberty despite his alleged role in the deadly Banjska attack.

Konjufca called on the international community to unequivocally condemn the statements and developments and demand accountability.

“The sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo is not negotiable, and neither is justice for the Banjska terrorist attack,” he stressed.

The Banjska attack took place in northern Kosovo on 24 September 2023, resulting in the killing of Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku. Radoičić, a former senior figure in the Serb List, publicly acknowledged responsibility for organising the armed group involved in the attack.
