Kosovo Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu has called for accountability after footage emerged showing Milan Radoičić alongside the son of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at an election rally organised by Vučić’s party in Kragujevac.

In a Facebook post, Haxhiu said Radoičić’s appearance at such events demonstrated that he was not only at liberty in Serbia but was also welcomed in circles close to the country’s leadership, despite having publicly accepted responsibility for organising the Banjska attack, in which Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.

“The man who publicly accepted responsibility for organising this attack and who is internationally wanted, instead of surrendering to the Kosovo authorities, appears freely at a rally organised by Serbia’s ruling party.

“This cannot simply be treated as a failure to cooperate with the justice system. His presence in circles close to the authorities raises direct questions about the political responsibility of Serbian officials, who must put an end to his protection and hand him over to Kosovo, where he must answer for the attack he organised,” Haxhiu wrote.

Her remarks come amid renewed calls for Serbia to ensure accountability for the 24 September 2023 attack in Banjska, northern Kosovo, which resulted in the death of Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
