Dugolli Explains Why the Ibr Bridge Is Still Closed!

Vetëvendosje MP Enver Dugolli has explained that the European Union has confirmed that free movement of vehicles and citizens is a sign of a calm and secure situation, which should have led to the opening of the Ibr Bridge.

According to Dugolli, based on this EU assessment, the conditions that were previously unfavorable for opening the bridge no longer exist, as Serbia’s parallel structures in northern Kosovo are no longer present.

“Based on past agreements and the EU’s statements, free movement of citizens and vehicles indicates a calm and secure situation. Even if we refer to this assessment, the circumstances that previously justified the bridge’s closure no longer exist, as Serbia’s parallel structures in northern Kosovo are completely illegal and disappearing. Although we have done extraordinary work, there might still be a few individuals, but these structures no longer exist as a system in Kosovo; they exist only in Serbia. The situation is very calm, and there are even requests from the Serbian community for the bridge to be accessible for free movement,” Dugolli said.

When asked why the bridge is still closed, Dugolli stated that they are communicating with the international community to remove KFOR vehicles from the area, as security is now widespread and such barriers are no longer needed.

“There is ongoing communication with the international community. As you have seen, there are two KFOR vehicles there, and the communication with them indicates that their presence is no longer necessary because security is everywhere. Citizens’ movements with vehicles occur both to the right and left of the bridge, so it is illogical and unnecessary to have such barriers for citizens. Institutions are responsible for ensuring the free movement of citizens, vehicles, and goods because we are in a democracy,” the MP added.
