Aleksandar Arsenijević and Stefan Veljković, members of the “Serbian Democracy” party, were arrested by the Kosovo Police but were released after being interviewed at the police station.
According to the Police, Arsenijević and Veljković obstructed workers contracted to remove graffiti with nationalist inscriptions, such as “Severna Brigada,” located in the square near the Ibër bridge in Mitrovica.
Security expert Agim Musliu has expressed concern about the recent actions of these two politicians, who, according to him, are connected to the Serbian intelligence service, BIA.
Musliu emphasized that these two individuals are involved in ongoing provocative and destabilizing activities in northern Kosovo.
“‘Politicians’ sponsored by BIA in Kosovo, Aleksandar Arsenijević and Stefan Veljković from the ‘Serbian Democracy’ party, continue to be recidivists in provoking incidents to create fictitious unrest in Kosovo.
These two individuals, attempting to create destabilizing incidents in northKosovo to hinder the country’s integration, attacked workers contracted to repaint and clean the racist and nationalist anti-Albanian graffiti,” Musliu wrote.
He added that Arsenijević and Veljković approached the workers, knocked over a bucket of paint, and asked them, “What are you doing here?” This exchange is audible in a video of the incident.
After spilling the paint, Arsenijević told the workers, “It spilled, these things happen,” aiming to create an incident. During the arrest, they continued to provoke and resist the Kosovo Police, even though they had been warned multiple times not to obstruct the work and to leave. Both were released immediately after the interview.
Musliu added that these individuals, along with the Srpska List and other members of Serbian criminal groups, are involved in continuous provocations against Kosovo’s institutions.
“These two individuals, along with the Srpska List and other members of Serbian criminal groups, have carried out repeated provocations against Kosovo’s institutions.
They are the same people who previously provoked when Serbs violently blocked municipal buildings in north Kosovo during protests,” Musliu concluded.
