Today marks the final constitutional deadline for the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly.
The Assembly has not announced when the session, which began on Thursday for the constitution of the 11th legislature, will resume.
The session was interrupted following a request from the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, who asked for additional time to hold discussions with representatives of political parties, with the aim of reaching an agreement regarding the issue of the president.
Kurti’s request was met with criticism from lawmakers of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
Despite the reactions, the chairperson of the session, Avni Dehari, a Vetëvendosje MP, suspended the proceedings.
Before the interruption, the Assembly managed to complete the first two items on the agenda: the establishment of the committee for verifying MPs’ mandates and the swearing-in of lawmakers.
After it was confirmed that the elected representatives met all legal requirements, they took their oath of office. The MPs from the Serb List, a political entity supported by official Belgrade, also participated in the swearing-in ceremony.
