With the closure of parallel institutions, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had warned that within 72 hours he would announce Serbia’s steps regarding the “crisis in Kosovo.” The announcement of new local elections in the north of Kosovo, the return of Serbs to institutions, the Kosovo police and the judiciary, the withdrawal of special units of the Kosovo police from the northern region, have been some of the main demands mentioned last week by the Serbian president at the announced Conference.
But regarding Vucic’s statements, the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani said that those requests are not Vucic’s goal. According to her, he only wants to draw attention to what is really happening, his efforts to train paramilitary forces aimed at violence.
Osmani said yesterday that he does not believe Vucic at all, and that Vucic’s goals are other, as she said behind the scenes he works to destabilize the region.
“Every right that is granted to Serbs are constitutional rights that belong to minorities, not that Vucic says. But at no point does the wiki really have that goal. There are other purposes. It wants to appear to the West that it is contributing to something positive, but behind the scenes it is working to destabilize our region and go back to the 90s. Not a word of it should be taken seriously. We need to work with our partners so that Kosovo can only take steps forward” ” Osmani told reporters yesterday.
For Osmani, the Serbian president has the mindset of Milosevic who ” thought he was above the whole world”.
Osmani said that the U.S. has made its borders clear to the Serbian President, and that, as she said, if something like this is attempted in Banja Luka, Serbia will be a loser.
” Even Vucic can think that he is strong, but he knows the borders very well, because the democratic world led by the US has made the Borders known, and he does it every day, ” Osmani said.
For the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, Vucic’s demands are “unfriendly” and his “aggressive campaign”, which as the head of the Kosovo executive said have no place in Kosovo.
” His demands, his measures, are made out of desperation and represent irrationality and are not at all peaceful, but rather part of the aggressive campaign for new conflicts that undoubtedly have no place even in Kosovo, ” Kurti said.
The prime minister stated that the three demands he has made are primary and rational, not Vucic’s.
For Speaker Konjufca, Vucic is trying to preserve the ones he no longer has and is threatening the Republic of Kosovo, while mentioning here his recent conference.
According to Konjufca, such threats do not impress Kosovo, as “we are not afraid or worried”.
But Vucic’s demands for a return to institutions were welcomed by the European Union.
“We welcome the willingness expressed by President Vucic to continue engaging in the EU-facilitated dialogue. We also positively receive his call for Kosovo Serbs to participate in the elections in Kosovo and reintegrate into all Kosovo institutions, from which they left in 2022,” said EU spokesman Peter Stano.
The EU spokesman also reiterated calls for avoiding inflammatory rhetoric and, as he said, unilateral steps.
