Dear citizens!

I am pleased to inform you that after a long investigation process lasting over five years since 2019, I have finally been cleared of all charges by the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague! This is a great and significant victory, proving my innocence and affirming the purity and honor of the KLA.

Thanks to my lawyers, Sir Geoffrey Nice and Taulant Hodaj, and their determination to have the investigation closed due to lack of evidence, I received the official confirmation this week that everything has been finally closed.

This is the first officially closed case involving war crimes investigated by this Prosecutor’s Office.

I believe my case will contribute to justice having the final say for our fellow fighters who are still in The Hague, and I hope they too will return home proud and victorious as soon as possible.

Our struggle, as a people, was a fair and legitimate effort for freedom against the Serbo-Yugoslav occupier, who committed severe crimes against our people. Our liberation struggle was necessary and just.

This reality was affirmed through my case, and I hope it will also be affirmed in the cases of our fellow fighters still facing proceedings in The Hague.

A special thanks goes to my family for their unwavering support during these years, to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo who supported and trusted me, and to my lawyers for their tireless engagement and contribution until the conclusion of this case.

With respect,
Shukri Buja
