Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, hosted a meeting today with Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as part of the celebration marking the 10th anniversary of Kosovo’s full membership in the IOC.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports (MCYS) announced that alongside Prime Minister Kurti, the meeting was attended by MCYS Deputy Minister Daulina Osmani, the President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Spiros Capralos, President of the European Olympic Committee (EOC), and other senior officials from the IOC and EOC.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his deep gratitude to the IOC for its role in welcoming Kosovo into the international sports community, particularly for granting the country full membership in the IOC. “Today marks the 10th anniversary of Kosovo’s acceptance as a full member of the International Olympic Committee,” the announcement stated.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the upcoming 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games, which Kosovo will host. President Bach congratulated the country for securing the honor to host this prestigious event.
Prime Minister Kurti and Deputy Minister Osmani also highlighted the significance of the Mediterranean Games for the country and the ongoing investments in sports infrastructure, which are expected to total around 250 million euros. These investments are seen as key to promoting sports and strengthening Kosovo’s position in the international sports arena.
