Northern California was hit by a tornado on Saturday afternoon.

According to local authorities, four people were injured, several cars were overturned, and power lines were brought down in Scotts Valley, located about 89 kilometers south of San Francisco.

The National Weather Service (NWS) stated that the tornado was classified as EF1, one of the weaker classifications, and lasted around five minutes.

Residents of San Francisco received a tornado warning on Saturday morning, the first such warning in the city’s history, which was later lifted with no reported injuries. Meanwhile, rainstorms were present throughout the region.

The tornado warning for San Francisco came just one week after the city issued its first tsunami warning.

The brief warning was issued for Northern California and Southern Oregon following a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck the northern coast of the state.
