Albania’s Council of Ministers has approved the deployment of a platoon from the Albanian Armed Forces to the NATO Multinational Brigade in Romania, marking a further contribution to the Alliance’s collective defense efforts.
Defense Minister Ermal Nufi announced the decision on Wednesday, describing the deployment as an additional commitment by the Albanian government to NATO’s international security missions.
Under the approved decision, the platoon will join the multinational brigade stationed in Romania, where it will contribute to strengthening security on NATO’s eastern flank.
“Today, the Council of Ministers approved the decision to deploy a platoon from the Albanian Armed Forces to the multinational brigade in Romania,” Nufi said.
“This is an additional commitment by the Albanian government to international missions. I am confident that this deployment continues our long-standing participation in allied operations. The engagement of our troops will help strengthen security in Romania and is fully in line with NATO’s collective security framework,” he added.
Albania has consistently contributed personnel to NATO-led operations and multinational missions, reinforcing its role as an active ally within the Alliance.
Separately, Nufi indicated that the Albanian government is expected to decide next week on a potential military contribution to the international mission in Gaza, although no further details were disclosed.
