A former member of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), Radomir Delić, has pleaded not guilty to war crimes charges before the Basic Court in Prishtina.
During Wednesday’s initial hearing, Delić denied allegations that he committed war crimes against the civilian population during the 1998–1999 Kosovo war.
“I do not feel guilty,” Delić told the court after the indictment was read by Special Prosecutor Florije Salihu-Shamolli.
Following his plea, presiding judge Donikë Shala-Abdyli informed the defendant and his defense team that they have 30 days to challenge the evidence and submit a request to dismiss the indictment.
The Special Prosecution of Kosovo filed the indictment against Delić on July 7, 2026, accusing him of committing war crimes while serving as a member of the Serbian MUP.
According to the indictment, on May 22, 1999, Delić allegedly opened fire on civilian victim Sh.D., who later died from the injuries sustained. Prosecutors also accuse him of participating, together with other Serbian security forces, in the killing of 71 Albanian civilians in the municipality of Vushtrri.
The indictment further alleges that Delić took part in inhumane treatment, torture, looting, and the forced expulsion of Kosovo Albanian civilians during the conflict.
The case forms part of Kosovo’s ongoing efforts to prosecute alleged war crimes committed during the 1998–1999 war.
