Four people have been arrested in a joint operation by the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) on suspicion of abuse of official duty and corruption.
Among those arrested are two officials from the Division for Foreigners, one official from the Civil Registration Agency, and one foreign citizen.
Following the operation, Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla welcomed the action, reiterating that the fight against corruption remains an institutional priority.
“I welcome the joint operation of the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, which resulted in the arrest of two officials from the Division for Foreigners, one from the Civil Registration Agency, and a foreign citizen. They are suspected of using their official and intermediary positions for financial gain by providing services to individuals while bypassing legal procedures,” Sveçla said.
He emphasized that authorities remain committed to the principles of integrity, legality, and accountability for every public official.
“Any suspicion of abuse of official duty, corruption, or violation of citizens’ trust will be treated with full seriousness and in close cooperation with the relevant security and justice institutions. Fighting corruption and ensuring institutional integrity are essential conditions for providing fair, efficient, and transparent services to citizens,” Sveçla stated.
“No one will be allowed to use public office for personal benefit at the expense of public interest and citizens’ right to equal treatment before institutions,” he added.
