U.S. President Donald Trump posted a photo from the prestigious New York Post newspaper, featuring a map where Canada and Greenland are shown as part of the United States.
Trump stated that it is in the best interest of the U.S. for Canada to become the “51st state,” and expressed his dissatisfaction with the “artificially drawn” border between the U.S. and Canada.
Trump, who previously won the U.S. presidential election, declared that the border between the two countries is an “artificial line” and threatened to impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada, which exports 75% of its goods and services to the U.S.
For some time now, the Republican president has been advocating for the ownership or control of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, since taking office in the U.S.
This repeated request from Trump has sparked reactions from several European countries. Recently, France stated that the European Union would not allow its borders to be altered.
