Kosovo and the United States are moving towards finalizing the Strategic Dialogue. Experts in international relations say that the process aims to strengthen long-term cooperation in areas such as the rule of law, human rights, and free trade. The Strategic Dialogue will deepen bilateral relations between Kosovo and the U.S.

The Strategic Dialogue with the United States will cover many important areas in the interest of the citizens of Kosovo.

This was stated by Kosovo’s president, Vjosa Osmani, on Friday after receiving the excellent news from U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Verma, that Kosovo and the U.S. will soon finalize the Strategic Dialogue.

International law professor Besfort Rrecaj says that the strategic dialogue aims to establish long-term strategic coordination and cooperation between Kosovo and the U.S., based on several key pillars.

“In the long run, this dialogue will be built primarily on the foundation of certain values. These values include the rule of law, respect for human rights, respect for minority rights, free trade, and others,” Rrecaj said to RTK.

Politically, according to Rrecaj, this involves “the development of liberal democracy, free elections, fighting corruption, rule of law, respect for court decisions, respect for the separation of powers, and upholding those fundamental values which are also reflected in the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.”

Rrecaj added that this confirmation from the U.S. will help further align Kosovo with the United States.

“The United States places more importance on the relationship between peoples rather than sometimes having emphasized issues or certain dynamics with respective governments. However, the cornerstone between Kosovo and America is the relationship between their peoples,” he added.

The agreement for the Strategic Dialogue between Kosovo and the United States is expected to be finalized soon.

The U.S. Department of State carries out this process with various countries around the world with the goal of advancing bilateral relations.
