Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan will unite to fight the remnants of the Islamic State group, allowing the United States to sever ties with Kurdish militants in Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Sunday.

The decade-long relationship between Washington and the Kurdish-led forces in Syria is opposed by Turkey.

Ankara claims that the People’s Defense Units (YPG) are linked to a group designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the European Union.
