The United States has agreed to delay imposing 25% tariffs on Mexican goods for one month following a conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

This development comes after a new agreement between the two leaders, in which Mexico committed to strengthening border security by deploying 10,000 National Guard troops immediately.

The primary objective of this deployment is to curb drug trafficking into the U.S., particularly fentanyl—a synthetic opioid that has been a major concern for the Trump administration.

In return, Sheinbaum stated that the U.S. has pledged to cooperate with Mexico in preventing the smuggling of weapons across the border.
