An informal civic group in Serbia, Borba je obaveza (“The Struggle Is an Obligation”), has alleged that two members of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) threatened a local activist in the municipality of Sremski Karlovci.
According to a statement cited by Serbian news agency FoNet, the incident occurred on Thursday at around 7:00 p.m. The group claims that one of the men threatened the activist with rape, while the other allegedly said that he would “run over all the blockaders” with a car.
The organization further alleged that the two individuals had previously participated, alongside the mayor of Sremski Karlovci, in an incident involving local high school students during a memorial gathering held for victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse.
Borba je obaveza condemned the alleged threats, describing them as acts of intimidation and violence rather than verbal disputes.
“The threats of rape and murder are not insults or verbal conflicts, but criminal offenses that must be prosecuted,” the group said in its statement.
According to the organization, the case has been reported to the Serbian police. Authorities had not publicly commented on the allegations at the time of reporting.
