Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday as Washington seeks to revive efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to a White House official cited by AFP, Zelenskyy is expected to hold talks with Trump in Washington. Kyiv has not yet officially confirmed whether the Ukrainian president will also attend the memorial ceremony for late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.
The meeting comes after Zelenskyy revealed earlier this week that he had held discussions with Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as part of renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at restarting stalled peace negotiations.
U.S.-led attempts to broker an end to the more than four-year conflict have slowed in recent months, with Washington shifting much of its foreign policy focus toward tensions involving Iran.
Relations between Trump and Zelenskyy have experienced periods of strain, most notably following a heated Oval Office confrontation in February 2025. However, ties between the two leaders have improved in recent months amid renewed diplomatic engagement.
Earlier this week, Zelenskyy also met with conservative American commentator and Trump ally Laura Loomer, who has recently moderated her stance on Ukraine. Trump later shared Loomer’s post about the meeting on social media, commenting, “Very good!!”
The White House meeting is expected to take place on the same day as a memorial service in Washington honoring Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime supporter of Ukraine, who died earlier this month at the age of 71.
Trump is also scheduled to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the same day of high-level diplomatic engagements.
