Egypt has firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, emphasizing that the Arab world stands united in opposition to any forced displacement.
During a meeting in Washington, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati told U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio that Egypt and other Arab nations remain committed to supporting the Palestinians’ right to stay in their homeland.
Egypt Calls for Gaza Reconstruction
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the urgent need to rebuild Gaza and reaffirmed its opposition to any efforts that would forcibly remove its residents.
“We look forward to working with the new U.S. administration to achieve a comprehensive and just peace in the region,” Abdelati said, according to a statement cited by Hina.
The ministry also called on the international community to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, urging the world to correct what it described as a historic injustice against them.
Trump’s Plan Faces Global Backlash
Trump’s proposal—widely condemned by regional and global leaders—suggests relocating Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt, where the U.S. would help construct permanent settlements.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump reiterated that Palestinians would not be allowed to return to Gaza, claiming that they would instead receive “a much better place to live.”
“It will take years before they can live in Gaza again. I think we could reach a deal with Jordan and Egypt, both of whom receive billions of dollars in aid from us,” Trump stated.
Despite strong Arab and international opposition, Trump is expected to discuss his plan with Jordanian King Abdullah during an upcoming meeting on Tuesday.
