Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday after a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that U.S. President Donald Trump is the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House, Reuters reports.
Netanyahu stated during a joint press conference with Rubio that the two had a productive conversation in which they discussed important issues.
“Trump and I are fully cooperating to coordinate a solution for the Gaza issue,” Netanyahu said, adding that Israel was “determined” to achieve its war goals.
He declared that Israel aims to neutralize Hamas’s military capacity. Speaking about Lebanon, Netanyahu said Hezbollah must be disarmed and that it would be good for the Lebanese army to do so.
“We have the means to maintain a ceasefire with Lebanon and protect our security,” he said, adding that Israel will not allow Syria “to become a base for hostile operations.”
