Dragan Šormaz, a prominent Serbian politician, has expressed criticism following the announcement of Serbia’s Foreign Minister Marko Đurić’s visit to Moscow. In a tweet, Šormaz questioned Serbia’s commitment to European Union accession, citing concerns about corruption, media freedom, the judiciary, and concentration of power in the hands of one individual.

Šormaz highlighted the apparent contradiction between Serbia’s EU candidacy and its ongoing close ties with Russia, especially amid the conflict in Ukraine. He sarcastically referenced Chapter 31 of the EU accession negotiations, which pertains to foreign policy alignment, implying that Serbia’s actions are inconsistent with EU expectations.

He also tagged Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and raised the issue of Cluster 3 negotiations, further underscoring the tensions surrounding Serbia’s EU path in light of its foreign policy stance.
