The Basic Court of Prishtina has ordered Prime Minister Albin Kurti to testify before the Special Prosecution on March 4, following a request from prosecutors.
The Basic Court of Prishtina – Special Department has issued a ruling obligating Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, to appear before the Special Prosecution on March 4, 2025.
Court spokesperson Mirlinda Gashi confirmed to Gazeta Express that the ruling was issued on February 21, 2025, while the Prime Minister’s Office officially responded to the order on February 28.
“We inform you that the Basic Court of Prishtina – Special Department, at the request of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, has issued a court order dated 21.02.2025, obligating witness A.K. to appear as a witness and provide his testimony on 04.03.2025 at 10:00 AM at the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo,” Gashi stated.
Government spokesperson Perparim Kryeziu has also released a letter sent to the court, emphasizing that Kurti is not refusing to testify. The government has requested that the Special Prosecution take Kurti’s testimony at the Prime Minister’s Office instead of requiring him to appear in person at the prosecution’s premises.
The court’s ruling comes amid heightened political tensions, with the case drawing significant public and media attention in Kosovo.
