A group of demonstrators gathered in Waitsfield, Vermont, on Saturday to protest against Vice President JD Vance, who is currently on vacation with his family.
The protest follows a heated exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and former U.S. President Donald Trump, in which Vance also took part during a meeting in the Oval Office on Friday, according to Reporteri.net.
Some of the protesters are affiliated with Indivisible, a left-wing political group that was founded in response to Trump’s election in 2016.
Background on the Oval Office Clash
Zelensky’s visit to the White House on Friday escalated into a verbal confrontation when Trump and Vice President Vance accused the Ukrainian leader of failing to appreciate U.S. aid and refusing to engage in peace negotiations.
The dispute led to Zelensky’s abrupt departure from the White House and the collapse of a planned agreement on mineral exports, which was a key purpose of his visit to Washington.
Growing Political Tensions
The incident underscores rising tensions between the Trump-Vance administration and Ukraine, as well as growing divisions within the U.S. over continued support for Kyiv. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK officials have reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine, stressing that abandoning the country would jeopardize long-term stability in Europe.
