Suspect in Espionage Case Brought to Court

Jelena Đukanović, a suspect in an espionage case, has been brought to the Special Department of the Basic Court in Prishtina, where a hearing regarding the imposition of a security measure is expected to take place soon. Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu and Đukanović’s defense lawyer, Predrag Milković, also entered the court.

Đukanović was arrested in the Mitrovica region on February 28 under suspicion of espionage. She was detained for 48 hours, and a search was conducted at her residence.

The prosecution announced that the arrest followed several months of investigation.

“The Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) informs the public that after several months of investigation, in collaboration with the Kosovo Police’s Anti-Terrorism Directorate and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, a person was arrested in the Mitrovica region based on substantiated suspicion that, in cooperation, they committed the criminal offense of ‘Espionage,’ as per Article 124, paragraph 3, related to Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo,” the Special Prosecutor’s Office stated.
