Steven Pifer, who was the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, says the decision to cut off aid is “very wrong” because “at some point it will have a real effect on the battlefield.”
“It could strengthen sanctions against the Russian economy. It could work with the G7 to seize $300 billion in assets from the Russian Central Bank and make those funds available to Ukraine,” he said, according to BBC, as reported by Sinjali.
Pifer further added that Trump has a lot of influence due to the U.S. aid to Ukraine with Zelensky, and now it seems he is pushing and strongly opposing the wrong side.
