On the occasion of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (KLA) Epic, President Vjosa Osmani paid tribute at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz, emphasizing the legacy of sacrifice for Kosovo’s freedom.
During her address, Osmani underscored that this day serves as a tribute to all martyrs and heroes who gave their lives for Kosovo’s liberation, with special dedication to the Jashari family.
“As every year, we commemorate the Epic of the KLA, which is dedicated to our collective remembrance in this time of freedom—for every martyr, for every hero, and for every fallen soul who gave their life for Kosovo. But above all, it is a tribute to the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the Jashari family on March 5, 6, and 7, 1998, led by the legendary commander Adem Jashari. Their struggle extended far beyond the war years, turning the Jashari towers into a fortress of freedom that continues to protect Kosovo’s independence and sovereignty to this day,” Osmani declared.
She emphasized that the immense price paid for Kosovo’s freedom must never be forgotten, urging future generations to be inspired by the sacrifices made.
“Not only those of us who lived through the war but also the younger generations and our children must be inspired by this path forward—to defend the hard-fought freedom achieved with sacrifice and blood. Above all, we are reminded of the high price paid for our freedom. Beyond Commander Adem Jashari, who fought alongside his father, Shaban, and brother, Hamza, the majority of those who fell from the Jashari family were women and children—making this sacrifice even greater and more sacred,” she noted.
Osmani concluded by stressing that Kosovo must never stray from the path laid by its heroes, reaffirming that their sacrifice remains a guiding light for strengthening the country.
“We must never forget, and we must never deviate from the path paved by the sacrifice of our heroes, martyrs, and fallen fighters. This path and their sacrifice will always serve as a guiding light for strengthening Kosovo—a Kosovo that is becoming stronger every day. Glory to all Kosovo’s martyrs! Long live the Kosovo Liberation Army and the Republic of Kosovo, for which they gave their lives!”
