Igor Simić, a senior official of the Serbian List, held a press conference today accusing Minister Nenad Rašić of securing a seat in the Kosovo Assembly through “political engineering” involving Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Simić claimed that when examining the election results from municipalities with a Serbian majority, the Serbian List garnered 32,399 votes, while Rašić only received 2,976 votes, which, according to him, was 263 votes short of the necessary threshold for a mandate.
In response, Rašić addressed the accusations in a statement to Radio Free Europe. He emphasized that over the past two years as Minister for Communities and Returns in the Kosovo Government, his work had earned the trust of various minority communities living in Kosovo, not just the Serbian community.
“For clarity, communities live everywhere, including Serbs, Gorans, Turks, Bosniaks, Ashkali, Egyptians, and Roma. The way we’ve worked, I believe, justified receiving more votes. Our votes are real, unlike theirs, which were imported by people who have not lived in Kosovo for 25 years,” Rašić said, countering Simić’s claims.
