The chairman of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj, said that Kosovo is still paying the price for its freedom. These comments were made by Limaj after paying respects at the coffin of Haxhi Thaçi, the father of former president Hashim Thaçi, who passed away on March 16.

“Today, together with colleagues, we are here to bid farewell to a parent, a patriot, and a great man who is a symbol of all our fathers. With his education and sacrifice, he raised sons in service of the country. I had the privilege, many times during the war and after the war, in both difficult and joyful moments, to have an emotional connection with him, because all the sons of the KLA, their parents were the parents of each other,” said Limaj.

“As we bid him farewell today, it also shows once again that the price of Kosovo’s freedom is still being paid. Today, the one who served and made a significant contribution to the freedom and independence of Kosovo, even in the most difficult moments of his life, is not here. Today, President Thaçi is absent, and this shows how costly and how much sacrifice our families paid for freedom and independence,” said the chairman of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj.
