The U.S. troops of KFOR, assigned to the Regional Command-East, have conducted a routine patrol in northern Kosovo to ensure freedom of movement and overall security, the NATO-led mission confirmed.

“These efforts are part of KFOR’s daily mission to guarantee a safe environment for all communities living in Kosovo,” the statement read.

KFOR reaffirmed its commitment to implementing its mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), which tasks the force with maintaining a secure and stable environment while ensuring freedom of movement for all people and communities in Kosovo.

The international peacekeeping force also emphasized its close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective security response roles.

This latest patrol follows heightened concerns over security in northern Kosovo, an area often marked by tensions between ethnic communities.
