The past week was difficult for the former president, Hashim Thaçi.
A few days after visiting his father, Haxhiu, he received the tragic news of his passing, as reported by Rks News.
Despite the requests from his family, Thaçi was not allowed to attend his father’s funeral, which took place on Tuesday in Burojë.
Until yesterday, the Special Court kept Thaçi away from this painful and significant moment for his family, bringing him back to Kosovo under strict security measures.
His first stop was Burojë, by the grave, where Thaçi laid a wreath of flowers.
Accompanied by several police officers and EULEX personnel, Thaçi, however, was alone at this poignant moment.
He was then taken to Burojë, to his father’s house, where he was allowed to meet his mother and wife before being transferred to EULEX’s central offices in Pristina.
Short visits and meetings with his brothers were allowed today, in the EULEX offices, just before he left for The Hague to resume the trial named “Thaçi and Others.”
In the next session, after a several-week break, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi will face the court on Monday, March 24.
The session is scheduled to begin at 09:00.
