Today marks 26 years since the murder of the distinguished Albanian lawyer Bajram Kelmendi and his two sons, Kastrioti and Kushtrimi.
Lawyer Kelmendi, along with his two sons, was taken by Serbian forces on March 24, the same day NATO began its airstrikes on Serbian targets in Kosovo.
The news about the location of their bodies was received by Nekibe Kelmendi, now deceased, on March 26.
Their bodies were found near a gas station on the Pristina-Fushe Kosova road.
Kelmendi, as a lawyer, had handled a case against the crimes of Milosevic’s regime in Kosovo, a file he was about to deliver to The Hague.
